Set in the 13th century, this animated film is inspired by the well-known Russian legend of Peter and Fevronia of Murom, later revered as saints and patrons of family, love, and marital devotion.

In the story, the warrior Prince Peter defeats a sorcerer who has seized power in the principality of Murom. However, the villain’s poisoned blood leaves him gravely ill. A gifted healer named Fevronia offers to cure him, and a sincere bond soon forms between them. Their love must endure many trials before they can remain together.
